About Us

There is a particular kind of moment that changes everything. A look between two people who have shared every significant moment of their lives and know, without a word, that this is another one. Ours happened in a studio. Our instructor looked at an image we took for one of her seminars and she said jokingly: This looks like a magazine. Why don’t you open one? We instantly turned to each other and in the way that twins can communicate, everything was decided in an instant.

We are Cynthia and Marianna. Sisters. Twins. Between us we carry a background in fashionand one in film and photography, two disciplines that, it turns out, were always building toward something. We found pole dancing in Australia in 2021, the way the best discoveries tend to arrive: unexpectedly, and with complete finality. There was no going back after that first class. There rarely is.

What captivated us was not one thing but the tension between two. The extraordinary strength that pole demands and the breathtaking softness it allows. The discipline of the athlete and the vulnerability of the artist. The longer we spent inside this world, the more we felt the absence of something. A space that told its stories with the depth and elegance they deserved. That went beyond the tutorial, beyond the highlight reel, into the reality of what it means to build a life around this.

We wanted to read the profiles of the dancers whose work stopped us mid-scroll. We wanted to understand the training philosophies of the teachers shaping the next generation. We wanted honest conversations about mental health, about the quiet and unglamorous work that makes the breathtaking moments possible. We wanted to know the brands being built from within the community, the events shaping its future, the techniques worth mastering and the culture worth preserving.

We looked for that publication. It did not exist. So we decided to build it.

Pole Society is not a niche project. It is a cultural document. It is for the dancer who just discovered pole and cannot believe they have found it. For the competitor standing in the wings, heart in their throat, about to walk into the light. For the teacher, the creator, the artist who has built something extraordinary and deserves to be seen.

It is for everyone who has ever stood at a pole and felt, for the first time or the hundredth, completely and utterly themselves.

We started this because we could not find it anywhere. We hope it becomes everything you were looking for too.

With love, Cynthia & Marianna
